Why Illinois Needs to Fire Ron Zook
The way that we see it, it's simple: Ron Zook is just a
bad coach.
I have never seen somebody scheme as poorly as this guy.
Sadly, he surrounds himself with people just like him.
These "coaches" are simply above average recruiters who will
occasionally land the big time athlete that lifts the program
for no more than 2 years. There's a reason that he got fired
at Florida. A 23-14 record at a powerhouse SEC school is
simply unacceptable. Fireronzook.com (no longer active)
was published before he coached a single game. Lucky for
Gator Nation, they only had to deal with him for three seasons.
Let us not forget that the Fighting Illini had a once storied
football team with a tradition few teams can match.
Illinois has won 5 National Championships, 15 Big Ten Titles,
and 3 Rose Bowls. Notable stars also went through the program
such as Red Grange, George Halas, Dick Butkus and Ray Nitschke,
all of whom are in the Pro Football Hall-of-Fame in Canton.
It
is at Memorial Stadium that Homecoming Weekend came about and
that Chief Illiniwek made his first appearance. It is here
that the Marching Illini continue their storied tradition.
Zook had his chance to restore the tradition but has failed.
Since arriving at Illinois he has had just one winning season
and boasts a 19-35 record as of October 19, 2009. After a
5-7 record in 2008, the Zooker got an extension...
This should
be all that is needed because as Vince Lombardi said, "Winning
isn't everything, it's the only thing." Well the purpose
of this site is to promote the removal of Ron Zook as head
football coach for the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Also, this site was developed to promote the removal of Ron Zook.
We want him gone. This isn't a cheap blog on Blogger.
This isn't some guy in his parent's basement. Right now
this is a 3-man project designed specifically to get him out.
We saw what Baghead and the old fireronzook.com did. We
saw how Nate Silver (aka Poblano) took a small site called
fivethirtyeight.com and made it one of the premier political
sites. It is our hope that we can begin to influence like
these greats have done. |
